Here find descriptions of all the best routes, tops, and viewpoints offered on the hills of the Scottish Borders. The purpose of this is three fold. Firstly, I wish to promote the landscape of the Scottish Borders as it is a criminally under-visited part of the country for those who love exploring the countryside. Secondly, I wish to encourage wider exploration of each hill, showing that making a B-line for the summit should be avoided and all the nooks and crannies of a hill should be discovered. I hope in detailing all the available routes and all the main tops of each of the hills others will create their own route so they can take in the areas they wish to see. Thirdly, I have been compiling my own personal list of the best viewpoints or tops of notable scenery (TONS) on the Scottish Borders hills and calling them Cyrils after my Grandad who fostered a love of exploring the Scottish countryside.
I also hope to produce sketches of the route maps and scenic views to each write-up.
I have divided them into the major prominent summits of the Scottish Borders with a separate section for hills of note that are too small for any lists. For each hill you will find descriptions of the Cyrils worth exploring and the most pleasant routes on the hill, though many of these may not even take in the summit, they are simply wonderful routes on the land of said hill.
