A nice route for easy runs that takes you further along the river Kelvin and out to the Garscube campus.

local coffee fix

Black Pine cafe is a personal favourite. Great coffee also in 1841 or Perch and Rest, with Paper Cup a brilliant option if you want more of a meal with your coffee.

Route details

There is parking in and around Kelvingrove park and art gallery, which is a beautiful and grand building to start at. Cross the river into the park and follow the Kelvin Walkway. You will go past some beautiful old buildings and next to (though slightly lower down than) the popular Botanic gardens. This is a surprisingly picturesque route for a city run and is consequently popular with runners, walkers, and commuters.

After 3.3 miles, at a bridge, climb up to the right then switchback to continue climbing before a long descent into Garscube campus. Once here turn left and follow the main road through the campus until you reach Maryhill road. Turn left and once you cross over the Kelvin turn left again back into Garscube. From here you follow the main road past some Veterinary School Buildings, up a long drag, to Switchback road. Continue to climb and go into the woods that form part of Dawsholm park, staying on the main track through the middle until you descend the other side and come out at a quiet road. Head left and this road takes you back down the bridge you were at before the climb into Garscube. Retrace your steps along the river from here.
