Recommended running
A nice route for easy runs that takes you further along the river Kelvin on a much less frequented path.
local coffee fix
Black Pine cafe is a personal favourite. Great coffee also in 1841 or Perch and Rest, with Paper Cup a brilliant option if you want more of a meal with your coffee. Or Kaf in Bearsden.

Route details
Parking can be tricky for this one so try Lock 27, or around there in Anniesland. Head north into Garscube and run the perimeter to Maryhill road. At the roundabout on Maryhill road go up Acre road (north-east) past an old cinder track until you reach Caldercuilt Road. Go left here and you will get onto a dirt track leading to the riverside path.
From here it can get very muddy if there has been rain so be warned. Follow the Kelvin as it meanders through some quiet countryside. It is unlikely you will come across anyone on this part, I certainly never have. Just under 4 miles go right at the road up a long drag, before descending down to the canal. Join the canal and go back towards the city. Where the 2 canals meet take the right/west option as this will take you back to your car at Lock 27.
