Route details
Park in the ski centre car park and follow the large ATV/emergency vehicle track up to the bealach between Carn Aosda and The Cairnwell. Turn left and follow the track along to the summit of The Cairnwell which has prominent views down to the road and eastern Glenshee hills. En-route you will go past a bench made of skis which is at a brilliant viewpoint. Head back the way you came and keep an eye out for a path forking off west towards the outlying munro Carn a’ Geoidh and follow a straightforward out and back route to bag the second munro of the route. This section could be omitted if you wanted to save yourself 3-3.5 miles.
Once back at the bealach complete another out-and-back to the summit of Carn Aosda for the third munro, before retracing your steps back to the car. You will struggle to get 3 munros so easily on such good tracks, so while the ski equipment may tarnish the hillside it has at least provided some benefit to runners and hikers.
