Route details

Park at the end of Glen Road. There is a large free car park by the river in town but this will add nearly 2 miles to the route. Pick up the Cross Borders Drove Road and follow the high ridge around Glensax, or the Gypsy Glen, on a great track as you climb. The navigation in simple as you curve around towards Dun Rig, From Birkscairn hill around to Hundleshope Heights the going can get tough and boggy with long grass as times, as you traverse through peaty moorland, so you are probably best avoiding this route after rain.

Once at Hundleshope Heights be careful to come off the east ridge as the more obvious west ridge ends up pathless through some bracken and plantation (I found this out first-hand). Once you are back down in the glen follow the road back to your car.

This is about as rough as the routes on here probably get and definitely into some fell running territory. I would definitely save this for a good day and just enjoy the views and time out in nature as it is a fairly arduous route.
