Route details

There is a large car park, with charge, high up above Loch Tay and from here you can do the Ben Lawers range or the popular Meall nan Tarmachan. Follow signs for the Ben Lawers route and just follow the obvious path up the hill, cresting Beinn Ghlas for the first of two munros. Continue on to the final steeper pull up the the fairly small summit of Ben Lawers, dominated by a large cairn and a trig.

Enjoy the views and a breather before beginning the descent. Retrace the steeper final climb and then follow a small grassy path off the the right that contours around the northern side of Beinn Ghlas, avoiding any re-ascent. Once at a bealach you could tag on the two munros to the north of the range but these get very boggy and leave you with a 3 mile trek back down the road to your car. Instead, continue on the path that will bring you back to your outward route. Enjoy the last gentle descent through vibrant heather (in August anyway) back to the car park with great views south over Loch Tay.
