A long and hilly day out, perfect for time on feet and enjoying the views. The added benefit of bagging 3 munros en route.
local coffee fix
Just a few miles north is House of Bruar, you can’t go wrong with a stop there. There are also plenty of options in Pitlochry or and Aran bakery in Dunkeld if fantastic if heading south.

Route details
There is a good sized car park at Loch Moraig, a couple of miles east of Blair Atholl. From here you can see Carn Liath, the first munro of the day, as well as the clear track you need to follow. The hill is an impressive cone and you quickly reach the summit. Expansive views of the whole ridge open out in front of you and the route choice is clear, rolling over to the second and third munros on a good track the whole way.
You could bail at the bealach between munros 1 and 2, or 2 and 3, heading east to drop down to the return track. If carrying on to the third top you will be gazing out onto some truly remote and wild land, miles from the nearest road. Once the third munro has been bagged, retrace your outward route to the bealach between hill 2 and 3 and drop down east to the main track that makes the long gradual descent to the car park. This avoids a steep and loose descent coming off the ridge of Carn nan Gabhar.
