Route details
Park in the Glen Doll car park where there is a charge. Follow a great path on Jock’s road, a historic right of way, as far as corrie fee. Once you see signs for corrie fee follow them. You will break through the trees and the massive amphitheatre of the corrie opens up in front of you. Pictures struggle to do it justice as its size and grandeur are extremely impressive.
Follow the path that cuts through the floor of the corrie and steeply climb up the side of a waterfall. Once you get up and out of the corrie the path continues on grassy slopes to the summit of Mayar, which gives expansive views over the Glenshee and Lochnagar hills.
From the summit head directly east over the gently rolling plateau and climb to the summit of Dreish, rather indistinguishable from Mayar to be honest. Return down to the plateau and pick up the Kilbo path down one of the ridges. This gradually descends back to Jocks road just up from where you started.
