Route details

There is plenty of parking along the sea front, but aim to park nearer the northern end of the promenade unless you want a longer run. Head towards the pier and pick up the river Ayr. Navigation is as simple as following the river from here until you turn around, mostly on the north side of the river.

Be careful crossing the road at the bypass as this can be very busy. If you want a shorter loop then turn here for a 6 mile option, returning on the south side of the river. If doing the full route cross the bypass and pick up a quiet country lane for around 2.5 miles.

At the Oswald Hall car park cross the river and do a short loop following a bend in the river before returning to Ayr the way you left.
