Patina, in Edinburgh park at the northern end of the bypass, is a brilliant cafe with great coffee and amazing food.
Route details
Park in the Flotterstone car park and follow the track towards Glencourse reservoir. After 400m go left through a gate and pick up the well worn path that takes you up Turnhouse hill. Summit this and then continue on to Carnethy hill, with some more descent and ascent en route.
From Carnethy continue in the same direction down to the bealach where a path intersects and turn right to go downhill to the reservoir you have been looking down on. Here is where you could extend to take in more summits if you wanted to.
Once down at the tarmac road by the reservoir, head back along the reservoir all the way to the start point. This part of the route is a beautiful road nestled amongst the hills so take the occasional look behind you to appreciate it.
