Easy time on feet run but it is great if you want a hard hilly run or fartlek.

local coffee fix

No 1 has good coffee, cakes, and lunch. Haus and Co has great coffee and a tasty cookie, it is also a home decor shop. Both are in Innerleithen.

Route details

Park at the forest entrance on the back road between Walkerburn and Innerleithen. Head down river to Glenbenna and head up into the forestry. Shortly after joining the dirt road take a U-turn to begin the first long uphill drag of the route. Follow this until you join another main path. Turn right and continue to climb here. Stick on the main path as you contour around a few ridges, eventually dropping back down to the higher reaches of Glenbenna.

Pick up the dirt road heading towards the Tweed before contouring around more of the ridges of Minch Moor. At around 9 miles take the right fork to descend and at around 10 miles do a U-turn to descend back down to your car.

Provided you don’t pick up the wrong dirt road this run is brilliant. There are good views of the Tweed valley throughout and of the 11.4 miles run, 11 of it is on the dirt roads of the forestry.

My personal recommendation would then be to head into Innerleithen and get a delicious pizza at Out Out, followed by a coffee and pudding at Haus and Co.
